Welcome to Meteoris: a site dedicated to the study of
planetary meteorites, i.e., of space rocks that have their origin on
differentiated worlds, such as the Earth's own Moon or the Red Planet
Mars, and which landed on Earth in form of meteorites.
If you are new to meteorites I recommend you to study the Basics
section, first, and to learn about these most fascinating rocks from
space. If you are already into meteorites - as a scientist, collector,
hunter, or dealer - feel free to look around, and be sure to add this
site to your bookmarks as it will be updated, frequently.
Meteoris Site News
December 31, 2009: I updated the photos on this page to feature two
new Martian meteorite finds: NWA 5960 and NWA 5990. Enjoy the main
mass pictures!
September 20, 2009: I
updated the
Martian Meteorite News and the
Lunar
Meteorite News, a few days ago. I also added a few new entries
to the
Lunar Meteorite and
Martian Meteorite listings, as well as some photos of several new
NCC samples.
April 09, 2009: I just published an article
About Old and Fossil Meteorites in the April 2009 issue of IMCA Insights.
It includes photos of the fossil Österplana chondrite and the Lake
Murray iron as well as a top 10 list of the oldest known meteorites.
Have a look.
January 10, 2009: An online version of the
Meteorite Magazine
article
3D Chondrules Revealed, written by Dr. Jürgen Otto and myself, has
finally been published in the January issue of IMCA Insights. Enjoy the
article and Dr. Otto's marvellous color photos of these pretty unusual free-standing chondrules,
a real sight to behold! >>
