Welcome to Meteoris: a site dedicated to the study of
planetary meteorites, i.e., of space rocks that have their origin on
differentiated worlds, such as the Earth's own Moon or the Red Planet
Mars, and which landed on Earth in form of meteorites.
If you are new to meteorites I recommend you to study the Basics
section, first, and to learn about these most fascinating rocks from
space. If you are already into meteorites - as a scientist, collector,
hunter, or dealer - feel free to look around, and be sure to add this
site to your bookmarks as it will be updated, frequently.
Meteoris Site News
December 28, 2010: I updated the photos on this page to feature
three new Martian meteorite finds: the diabasic
shergottite NWA 5990, and the olivine-phyric shergottites NWA 6162 and NWA 6234. Enjoy the main
mass pictures!
December 25, 2010: I
updated the
Martian Meteorite News and the
Lunar
Meteorite News to introduce some of the newer finds. I also added a few new entries
to the
Lunar Meteorite and
Martian Meteorite listings, as well as some photos of several new
NCC samples.
October 20, 2010: I did not re-run for the Elections to the IMCA
Board of Directors after another term of three years as the President of
the Association. I hope that this will grant me a bit more spare time to
take care of my collection and of my website.
July 09, 2010: I just published an
Ensisheim Show report in the July issue of IMCA Insights - have a
look to see what has been going on in 2010. I also added a few new
acquisitions to the
Lunar Meteorite and
Martian Meteorite listings. >>
